My Gas Issues, Part Deux

May 20, 2008 / by dunedindentist

Not those kinds of gas issues. Seriously.

Anyway... if you've been reading my blog, you all know that I'm about solutions, not problems. I wanted to take a minute today to highlight an individual that is ALSO about solutions.

Meet Greg Losh of Salem, Indiana. Greg has some pretty decent family assets plus 10 acres of land. So he invested $100,000 in equipment and thought he'd drill for oil. Guess what?! He's got some!

That's right, Greg, disgusted with gas prices just like the rest of us, decided to drill for his own oil. He's now pumping out about 3 barrels a day. He's not exactly rivaling the Saudis, but good on ya Greg!

The news story wasn't clear, so I'm not quite sure how Greg is refining his oil. However, let's travel back to the third grade and figure out this word problem. Crude oil costs $127 per barrel. Greg pumps 3 barrels per day. Greg spent $100,000 to pump his own oil. How soon will Greg regain his initial investment and begin making a profit?

Answer:  262.5 days. A little less than a year.

Given the way gas is rising, Greg might wind up making his investment back faster. Assuming his oil source holds out. Here's to you and your entreupenurial spirit Greg!

After I read this I tried digging my own oil well, but err... I live on the beach so that didn't work out for me. *sigh* Oh well, back to dentistry.

Like I said in the beginning, I'm all about solutions. I know gas is high and its expensive to get places, that's why I'm going to give you FREE stuff! If you call my office at 727.733.1175 and tell them you read my blog I'll give you a FREE exam and xrays (a $257 value). Or go ahead and check us out at www.allaboutsmiles.org for more information. See you tomorrow!
